How to Play

The Goal

Predict exactly how many tricks you will win each round. Correct predictions earn you points. Wrong predictions lose you points. The player with the most points at the end wins.

The Deck (60 Cards)

Four suits, each numbered 1 (weakest) to 13 (strongest):

Dwarves1-13
Humans1-13
Elves1-13
Giants1-13

Plus 8 special cards:

W
4 WizardsAlways win. If multiple Wizards are played, the first one wins.
N
4 NullsAlways lose. If everyone plays a Null, the first one wins.

Rounds & Dealing

  • -In Round 1, each player gets 1 card. In Round 2, 2 cards. And so on.
  • -The final round deals all 60 cards equally.
  • -Total rounds depend on player count: 3 players = 20 rounds, 4 = 15, 5 = 12, 6 = 10.
  • -The dealer rotates clockwise each round.
  • -Leftover cards after dealing form the stock.

Trump

After dealing, the top card of the stock is flipped to determine trump:

  • -Numbered card — that suit is trump for the round. Trump cards beat all other suits.
  • -Null flipped — no trump this round.
  • -Wizard flipped — the dealer chooses which suit is trump.
  • -Last round — no cards left to flip, so no trump.

Round 1 — Foresight

In the first round, you do not see your own card. Instead, you can see everyone else's card. You make your prediction based on what you see others holding.

When it's time to play, your card is revealed to you.

Prediction (Bidding)

  • -Starting from the player left of the dealer, going clockwise, each player predicts how many tricks they will win.
  • -Everyone can see everyone's predictions.
  • -You can predict 0 to the round number (e.g., in round 5, you can predict 0-5).

Dealer restriction: The dealer (last to predict) cannot pick a number that makes the total predictions equal the round number.

Example: Round 3, others predicted a total of 2. The dealer cannot predict 1 (because 2+1=3). They can predict 0, 2, 3, etc.

Playing Tricks

  • -The player left of the dealer leads the first trick by playing any card.
  • -Going clockwise, each player plays one card.
  • -You must follow suit — play the same suit as the first card if you have one.
  • -If you don't have the led suit, you can play any card (including trump).
  • -Wizards and Nulls can be played at any time, even if you have cards of the led suit.

Special leads

  • -Wizard led: The Wizard wins the trick. All other players can play any card they want — no suit-following.
  • -Null led: It doesn't set a suit. The next numbered card played determines the suit. If a Wizard is played instead, everyone can play anything. If only Nulls are played, the first Null wins.

Who Wins a Trick?

1The first Wizard played in the trick.
2If no Wizard: the highest trump card.
3If no trump played: the highest card of the suit that was led.

The winner takes the trick and leads the next one.

Scoring

+

Correct prediction: 20 points + 10 points per trick won.

Predict 0, win 0 = +20. Predict 3, win 3 = +50.

-

Wrong prediction: Lose 10 points for each trick you were off.

Predict 2, win 0 = -20. Predict 1, win 4 = -30.

End of Game

The game ends after the final round (when all 60 cards are dealt). The player with the most points wins.

Quick Tips

  • -Wizards are guaranteed trick-winners. If you have one, that's a safe +1 to your prediction.
  • -Nulls are great for avoiding tricks when you predict 0.
  • -High trump cards (10-13 of trump suit) are very strong.
  • -Predicting 0 and getting it right still earns you 20 points.
  • -Watch what others predict — if everyone predicts high, some will fail.
